The Panora City Council adopted its new water rates Monday.

The Council approved the second reading and waived the third for the rate increases, which include about a 5 percent increase in the water availability charge from $40.10 to $42.20 as of June 15th. The rates also increase about 4.8 percent per 1,000 gallons of water use. The water rate for Xenia Rural Water will be $11.11 per 1,000 gallons and the rate for the Lake Panorama Association will be $6.26 per 1,000 gallons. The Council also approved setting the fees and dates for a city wide cleanup day with Jensen Sanitation for June 22nd, and set a public hearing for their next regular meeting on May 11th to hear comments on the City applying for Community Development Block Grant funds for owner-occupied housing rehabilitation. Finally, the Council took no action regarding the purchase of a Snap-On tool set kit for the electric department.
