The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened remotely Tuesday morning in regular session.

The meeting began with open forum, where Kelly Campbell with the U.S. Census Bureau joined the meeting to go over current census statistics and ask for the County’s assistance in filling in the gaps of respondents. The first action item was setting May 19th at 9:30 a.m. as the time and date for a public hearing to reclassify Ute Court to a level “A” road. Following that, the Board approved a professional services contract of $27,000 with RBM Services for Auditor’s election equipment. They then approved a resolution certifying budgets for Emergency Management, E911 Services, ISU Extension, the Assessor’s Office, County Hospitals, and the Fox Creek Benefited Water District, as well as acknowledging receipt of the 16 County township budgets.

Next, the Supervisors approved the sale and conveyance of the six vacated Secondary Roads Department buildings as discussed last week, accepting the high bids for the sheds. At 10 a.m. there was a public hearing regarding a 28E agreement for Central Iowa Workforce Development, region 11. The regional board chair and Polk County Supervisor Steve Van Oort talked about the process and reasons for requesting the agreement. He also recommended tabling action, as the 28E still needs to go before the IWD for approval, so the Board continued the hearing to a later date. Finally, the Supervisors approved janitorial services contracts for all County-owned buildings with Midwest Janitorial Services and Denise Cox. They also discussed but took no action on a new DMACC farm lease, and rescheduled an evening public hearing on the vacation of a portion of County Road R-16 for May 19th at 6 p.m.
