The 2020 football schedule is out and AC/GC will not have many free passes.
The Chargers will start their season with matchups with Earlham, IKM-Manning, South Central Calhoun, and Interstate-35. The four teams combined went 29-12 last season with three of the four teams qualifying for the playoffs. For reference, their non-district opponents last season went a combined 15-24 last season. The road doesn’t exactly ease up for AC/GC when they get to district play as they’ll face off with state runner-up Van Meter and Panorama who went 8-1 in the regular season last year. Head Coach Cody Mathewson says that when building the schedule, the conversation has changed since he took over the program a few years ago. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio when teams were calling to play AC/GC in his first year, when the team had won one game in the last two years, they were looking for an easy win. Coming off a 6-3 record, with three losses to playoff teams, its a different conversation.
