A Yale woman was recently sentenced to probation for a drug incident in Jefferson.

According to court documents, 56-year-old Marcia Kay Lowe pled guilty to a Class D Felony for her third possession of marijuana. She had a five year prison sentence suspended and was ordered to serve two days in the Greene County Jail and was placed on probation for two years. The charge stems from a December 8th incident.

A Jefferson Police Officer conducted a traffic stop of Lowe’s vehicle after the officer responded to a call of Lowe going through a business dumpster in the 200 block of North Vine Street. Lowe told the officer that she had mistakenly thrown items into the dumpster and a friend dropped her off to look for them. During the traffic stop, the officer conducted a probable cause search after smelling the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Drug related items were seized and tested positive for marijuana.

Lowe was also ordered to pay over $1,000 in surcharges, court costs, court-appointed attorney fees, as well as probation and jail fees.
