The Perry Public Library has been closed to the public since the COVID-19 community spread began in mid-March, but also since that time they’ve operated a successful “to-go” service.

Library Director Mary Murphy says their curbside book program has been a big hit so far, with numerous people stopping by each day to check out materials without having to go inside the building. “It’s been very well-received, people are very appreciative of it, and we were able to figure out how to do it with social distancing and containment of the germs. So when somebody either calls in or makes a request from the website, we package it up together in a plastic bag and we deliver it to their trunk. It’s really nice if you don’t have the capability of going to our e-resources for our e-books, our e-audio books, or streaming to get a book or a CD or a DVD in hand.”

The hours for the curbside service are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. There is currently no due date for anything checked out, and Murphy emphasizes that they’re remaining well-stocked in everything in spite of the no-return policy. Anyone interested in taking advantage of the program can call the library at 515-465-3569, or visit their website by clicking the link below for more information.
