An Illinois man was arrested Tuesday evening in rural Dallas County, on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Jason Eugene Sheeder of Orangeville, Illinois was spotted in the 33300 block of Delta Trail north of Dexter. He was reportedly acting suspiciously and carrying a rifle. He was found and identified by deputies and was subsequently arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, a class D felony. He was taken to Dallas County Jail and is being held on $5,000 bond. According to court documents, Sheeder was found guilty of third degree burglary in 2003 and forgery in 2009, both class D felonies, which resulted in his felon status.
