The Iowa Department of Public Health announced 482 new positive COVID-19 tests Tuesday, marking the largest single-day jump in new cases in the state.
Of the new reported occurrences, three were in Dallas County. There have now been 55 confirmed coronavirus cases in Dallas since the start of the community spread, though the IDPH reports that 35 of those individuals have fully recovered and there have been no deaths. Statewide the total cases is up to 3,641, and the death toll climbed to 83 with four more reported casualties as of Tuesday. Three of the deaths were Polk County residents – with two between age 61-80 and one over 81 – and the other was an individual over 81-years-old in Linn County. The IDPH emphasizes there have been 1,293 patients in the state who have fully recovered, as well as 23,974 negative tests.
