Emergency crews responded to a house fire in Perry Monday afternoon, and reportedly managed to rescue one individual from the burning building.
The fire was reported just after 3 p.m. at a residence located at 924 12th Street, at the corner of 12th and Otley Avenue. When the Perry Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene, much of the western part of the house was already engulfed in flames. Firefighters battled to control the blaze so they could gain entry into the building, as there was reportedly someone inside. The individual was rescued, but their condition is unknown. The fire destroyed nearly all of the house, as well as a nearby car and camper. The neighboring houses were mostly unaffected, aside from some smoke and water damage.
Crews battled the fire for several hours before extinguishing the last remnants. The cause of the blaze is currently unknown. The Perry Police Department, Dallas County Emergency Medical Services, and Dallas County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
