A Perry man was identified as the driver of a vehicle that collided with a traffic light in Perry Monday morning, though their condition is still unknown.
According to Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn, at 10:26 a.m. 33-year-old Erick Soriano was travelling westbound on Highway 141 in Perry. He reportedly was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control as he approached the stop light at the entrance to the Hy-Vee and former ShopKo parking lot. The 2014 Honda Accord impacted the pole on the north side of the road, and then split into three pieces. The rear of the car wrapped around the pole, the front end was around 100 feet further west in the ditch, and much of the middle was strewn in between. Soriano was treated at the scene by Dallas County Emergency Medical Services, and transported to Dallas County Hospital with unknown injuries.
Soriano was cited for failure to maintain control and reckless driving. Speeding charges are pending an investigation by the Perry Police Department. The Perry First Responders and Fire Department also assisted at the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
