In these uncertain times with the COVID-19 pandemic, school districts are doing what they can to stay positive and encouraging student learning.

Paton-Churdan Principal Annie Smith says teachers and staff have done a variety of things to acknowledge the positive impacts parents and guardians have made with their children, while the school building has been temporarily closed. She describes one of those positive methods, while also practicing social distancing.

“We wanted to make sure that every family knew specifically that we were talking to them, so our groups of teachers and staff each kind of joined together to do a fun, little quick delivery, where we dropped off a yard sign. So hopefully people have seen those yard signs out and about, that just lets parents know we’re thinking of them, we’re really impressed that they’re still giving their best, and that we do love them and miss them.”

Other ways teachers and staff have shown their appreciation for students and encouraging them to continue learning includes a short online video and a survival kit that has several fun activities for parents and kids to do together.
