McFarland Clinics in Jefferson and Guthrie Center have taken steps to protect staff and patients during the COVID-19 outbreak.
McFarland Clinic is not required to issue notes to employees that maybe showing signs of a respiratory illness to validate their illness or return to work. They suggest employers follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for how they should react and assist employees who may be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
Additionally, McFarland Clinic is following CDC criteria for COVID-19 testing. They will not order tests for the virus to rule out if someone needs to return to work, due to testing supplies being limited. They suggest, instead, to follow these CDC guidelines if someone has possible symptoms of the virus, like shortness of breath, a fever or a dry cough: waiting at least 72 hours since recovery of a fever without use of medication, the symptoms have improved and waiting at least seven days since the symptoms first appeared.
