Greene County Community Foundation
Due to the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak, the Greene County Community Foundation decided to cancel it’s grant award ceremony, but still get funding for projects.
GCCF President Don Van Gilder says 21 projects received $145,085 of grant funds from the Foundation. They handled grant projects of $35,000 and less while the gaming license holder for Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson, Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation, handled projects of $35,000 and more. There were a total of 36 projects for a total of $256,000 that were requested from the Foundation. The largest amounts went to the Scranton Alumni Association with $29,435. They plan to do the second phase of repairs to the Scranton Community Center. The City of Grand Junction received $24,500 to resurface their over 60-year-old sport court.
The Foundation has given over $1.6 million in grants since its inception in 2005. Additionally, they are continuing to build the permanent endowment fund through charitable donations.
