While spring activities and athletics are currently on hold due to the Covid-19 outbreak, we are taking a look at on what past AC/GC teams have been up to during this point in the season.
At this point last year, the AC/GC track and field team had earned several high marks throughout the early weeks of the 2019 track and field season. While Charger athletes earned plenty of gold, silver, and bronze medals, another accomplishment was reached by an AC/GC freshman last April. Chloe Largent raised the bar for the AC/GC girls high jump record when she leaped four feet, ten inches at the Kip Janvrin Invitational.
The previous record was held for two years by Mady Smith, who leaped four feet, eight inches at Panora on April 4th, 2017. That jump by Largent earned her a silver, only behind Panorama’s Morgan Johnk. At the time, the mark tied largent for 18th best in Class 2A and tied for 3rd in the West Central Activities Conference.
Largent would go on to break her own record resetting the mark to 5’2″ as she punched her ticket to the state competition.
