The Perry School Board convened Monday evening in regular session.
The meeting began with a public hearing regarding the proposed fiscal year 2021 budget. No one objected, so the budget was approved as presented. During the reports section, Superintendent Clark Wicks reviewed the Voluntary Educational Enrichment Opportunity plan as it relates to the school’s closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. High School Principal Dan Marburger also gave a presentation on student credit recovery and graduation ceremonies, and Wicks updated the Board on the wrestling/multipurpose room and industrial technology facilities project.
In general business, the Board accepted the abstract from the March 3rd special election on the District’s revenue purpose statement. That was followed by approval of the agreement between the District and the Perry Education Association for salaries in the next fiscal year. Other items approved related to teacher and staff contracts included: pay for duties not related to teaching; salaries for support staff and the staff roster; contracts for special services group personnel and the related roster; and the administration roster and contracts.
Additional items approved included: a professional services agreement with Sitelogiq (formerly Unesco) for the Perry Middle School renovation; an updated coronavirus pandemic response and emergency suspension of policy, which included approval of paying hourly employees through April 30th and possibly the rest of the school year if the closure is extended; the cancellation of school trips to Minneapolis and St. Louis; revisions to Board policies; and naming Bryce Pierce as the new High School physical education instructor, head football coach, and assistant track coach. The meeting concluded with a closed session to evaluate the Superintendent.
