Two men were arrested on weapons and drug-related charges after a shots fired incident occurred in Stuart Saturday night.
According to the Stuart Police Department, at about 11 p.m officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Southwest 7th Street after receiving multiple reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival law enforcement found fresh shell casings and determined that several shots had been fired within feet of the one of the apartments. Officers could hear people arguing inside the apartment and discovered three adults and several children inside. Two handguns, one of which is believed to be stolen, and marijuana were discovered in the apartment.
Thirty-one year-old Tyrone Anthony Morris and 27-year-old Danielson D. Allen-Harris were both arrested, during which Allen-Harris became combative and assaulted a Stuart officer and damaged a Sheriff’s Office vehicle. Both suspects were booked into the Adair County Jail and Morris has since bonded out. They are both charged with trafficking weapons, and possession of a firearm by felon or other. Morris is also charged with reckless use of a firearm, and Allen-Harris was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance and assault on a peace officer.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed. The Adair and Guthrie County sheriff’s offices and Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
