The Perry Optimist Club recently made a community donation that they hope will help people look on the bright side during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an effort to aid those adversely affected by the coronavirus-related closures around the City, the club presented $100 gift cards to Perry grocery stores to three families in need. Club President Zack Cregeen says the anonymous recipients were chosen based on recommendations from the Perry School District counselling department. Cregeen says the purpose of the donation was twofold: first to help people who are struggling to afford necessities as a result of the pandemic; and second to inspire hope to the rest of the community during this challenging time.
