The Casey Fire Department responded to a barn fire Friday morning.

Guthrie County Dispatch was notified of the fire at 3371 Locust Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. Homeowner Lee Whetstone tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he was intentionally burning down an old smokehouse attached to the barn when the fire got out of control and spread to the adjoining building. The fire department responded at about 8:35 a.m. to put out the fire, and left the scene at about 9:59 a.m. The barn sustained some damage, and no people or livestock were injured in the blaze. Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
