The Perry School Board convened Monday evening for a special session.
The first item approved was a resolution regarding the District’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as emergency suspension of policy. Superintendent Clark Wicks says this allows the Board latitude to change policy in order to meet student and staff needs. The Board then approved temporary supplemental policy provisions related to the pandemic, which gave specifics for how the District will accomplish their pandemic response. That was followed by approval of personnel changes, which included hiring Scott Pierce as the District’s new Activities Director. Next, the Board approved the 2020-21 insurance plan and rates, which included a 5.5% increase as well as better vision coverage.
The meeting concluded with a discussion on the implications of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as updates on the school’s response. Wicks said the conversation included: identifying essential workers; the plans for graduation services; voluntary education opportunities; and paying classified and hourly staff through April 13th. The Board will meet in regular session next Monday.
