Emergency crews responded to a shed and garage fire in rural Dallas County near Yale Monday night, after a grass fire got out of control.
According to Assistant Perry Fire Chief Brian Eiteman, the call came in at around 10:45 p.m. When fire crews arrived at the residence, located in the 10000 block of 190th Street, there wasn’t much remaining of the shed and the southeast corner of the nearby garage was on fire. Crews battled back the fire and left at around 1:30 a.m. However, the fire rekindled shortly after and the Perry Fire Department returned to put it back out. They left the scene for good at around 2:30 a.m.
Eiteman said it was hard to tell there was even a shed there to begin with, so it was a total loss, but the garage managed to sustain minimal fire, smoke, and water damage. He said the property owner had set the initial grass fire, which then spread to the shed and garage due to strong winds. No one was injured during the incident. The Yale, Bagley, and Jamaica fire departments assisted at the scene, as did Dallas County Emergency Medical Services.
