A Des Moines woman faces felony charges for an alleged burglary incident in Jefferson.
Police Chief Mark Clouse says 29-year-old Yasday Sorter is charged with a Class C Felony for second degree burglary and a Class D Felony for second degree theft. The charges stem from an investigation by the Jefferson Police Department.
Clouse says officers were called to a residence in the 700 block of West State Street at 8:41 a.m. New Year’s Day. During the investigation, officers found signs of the home being broken into and the suspect going through personal property items. Some of the items that were reported missing include two computers, checkbooks and car keys. It appeared the suspect fled through a bedroom door to the outside.
Clouse notes fingerprints were taken from the scene and sent into the criminalistics laboratory in Ankeny. The tests came back positive for Sorter. The police department has requested a warrant for Sorter’s arrest. Once Sorter is apprehended she will be booked into the Greene County Jail.
