The City of Panora is seeking to apply for a housing rehabilitation Community Development Block Grant.
The City Council approved an administrative services contract with Region XII Council of Governments for the grant application, and approved procurement for technical services with Region XII if awarded the grant. As required for the application, the Council approved formalizing the City representatives of their housing committee being Mayor Pat Parker, City Administrator Lisa Grossman, and Council members Stan Landon and Curt Thornberry. Parker expressed at their recent meeting that other City stakeholders are already a part of the committee, and the City eventually intends to have a town hall meeting to discuss housing improvements.
CDBG’s exterior home improvements program would give nearly $25,000 each for a total of six projects per grant award, for work including installing or replacing gutters, roof replacement, and windows, doors, and siding replacement. This program is for low-to-moderate income residents, but Karla Janning from Region XII pointed out that the program is open to residents living anywhere within the City limits, as opposed to a targeted area.
