One service in Dallas County that has continued through the COVID-19 pandemic is the Food Bank of Iowa’s Mobile Food Pantry, though the process has been modified.

The next stop of the food assistance program will be this Saturday at Crossroads Church in Perry, and organizers want the public to know the new rules for pick-up. First, the pantry will be conducted as a drive-through service only, and cars will be numbered and served in order as they arrive. Staff will conduct a no-contact registration, where they will essentially take the orders of participants and fill it based on the availability of commodities. No one is allowed out of their vehicle, and the food will be placed in people’s vehicles by volunteers.

The Mobile Food Pantry will run from 9-10:30 a.m. at the church, which is located at 2810 1st Avenue on the north side of Perry. Organizers point out this is a change from the original location, which was to be Perry Elementary.
