The Jefferson Public Library has made some adjustments after deciding to close the building to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The library is still offering services and resources to anyone who has a library card, and Library Director Jane Millard explains how people can still check out items.
“We are offering car-side pick-up and home deliveries of library materials. So just call us (and) we’ll make arrangements with you to come and pick up those items. We’ll gather them for you and get them checked out to your library card, and then deliver them to your car when you arrive, or if you need us to come and leave them on your front step, we can make home deliveries.”
Items that can be checked out include books and DVD movies, magazines, audiobooks, jigsaw puzzles and board games. Millard notes loan limits of checked out items are extended and there will be no overdue fines while the library remains closed. Those with library cards can renew checked out items by going onto the library’s website and patrons can return items in the book return slot on the west side of the building.
Millard adds, while there may be a need for computer and internet access, appointments can be made with library staff to use a computer. Additionally, there is free Wi-Fi available in the library parking lot and no password is needed.
Library staff will be available from 9am-6pm Monday-Thursday and 9am-5pm Friday. Contact the library at 515-386-2835 or the children’s department at 515-386-4415.
