The Panora City Council approved their fiscal year 2021 budget during Monday’s meeting.

Followed by a public hearing the budget was adopted with a property tax of about $17.33 per $1,000 of valued land. Other action taken by the Council included approval of an administrative services contract with Region XII Council of Governments for a Community Development Block Grant rehabilitation application and procurement for technical services with Region XII if the grant is awarded. The Council then approved formalizing their housing committee as required for the grant application to include Mayor Pat Parker, City Administrator Lisa Grossman, and Council members Stan Landon and Curt Thornberry. They also approved moving forward with an incentive housing package that would include a five-year tax abatement for existing home renovation, and a $10,000 grant for new housing development given upon issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy. Finally, the Council approved selling Panora Emergency Medical Services’s 1999 white ambulance to the Gilman Fire Department for $10,000.
