Since the community spread of COVID-19 first came to the State of Iowa, Perry Lutheran Homes has prohibited outside access to their main campus and Spring Valley retirement community.
One aspect of their operation that hasn’t been restricted, though, is their Meals on Wheels program. PLH staff emphasizes that even with the novel coronavirus 2019 pandemic coming to Dallas County, their in-home meal deliveries are continuing. They also point out that anyone who has become homebound as a result of self-quarantine can take advantage of the program. They serve elders in Perry and the other communities in northern Dallas County with daily meals delivered to the person’s door, and delivery volunteers are trained in proper social distancing and preventative hygiene.
Anyone interested in starting home-delivered meals through Perry Lutheran Homes is encouraged to reach out to their Spring Valley campus at 515-465-7500. Additionally, anyone willing to volunteer or donate to the program can call the above number or text “GIVE” to 515-320-8256.
