Working from home is not an option for the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, so they’re taking precautions to ensure the health of their staff and partnering agencies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Sheriff’s Office is closed to the public until further notice, which means visitation will not be offered on Thursdays and they will not accept applications for gun permits or renewals in person until further notice. Sheriff Marty Arganbright also asks that if you request a deputy at your residence that you inform the dispatch staff if you have been ill or have a fever. Arganbright says this is to ensure deputies will use precautions to keep safe and help prevent the risk of spreading COVID-19 to others, “It is different times, everyone’s doing a good job in Guthrie County, working together and having the understanding that we have to do some things that we’re not used to. So I appreciate the cooperation everyone has had, as far as with all the problems that we’re dealing with and uncertainty. So hopefully it’ll come through and will pass here and we’ll be back to normal.”
The Sheriff’s Office is available at their non-emergency phone number 641-747-2214, and gun permit applications can be found on the state’s website. Arganbright urges everyone to stay home and use all precautions they can to lessen the spread of COVID-19, and his office apologizes for the inconvenience.
