A Democratic candidate who previously ran for an Iowa Senate seat, will be making another run at it.
Democrat Keith Puntenney of Boone is running for Senate District 24, which includes Greene, Boone and Hamilton counties, along with parts of Webster and Story counties. He was born in Stratford and graduated from Boone High School in 1964. After earning his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and a law degree from the University of Iowa, Puntenney was a tax attorney for 32 years. He continues to farm 600 acres in Boone and Webster counties.
Puntenney wants to protect farming, education, jobs and promises to be an advocate for business tax credit reform and “the healthcare for all” initiative. He last ran for state senate in 2016 against then incumbent Jerry Behn and lost. Another Democrat running for the open senate seat is Cynthia Paschen of Ames. The pair will face off in the June Primary Election.
