Testing for novel coronavirus 2019 is now being provided by the Adair County Hospital System and Guthrie County Hospital following guidelines from the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Patients are eligible for testing if they meet one of the following criteria: hospitalized patients with fever and respiratory failure and no alternate diagnosis, hospitalized adults over the age of 60 with fever or respiratory symptoms and chronic medical conditions, anyone with household contact with a laboratory-confirmed case of COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to becoming ill with fever or respiratory symptoms, and anyone with a history of international travel to a country with a Level 3 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention travel health warning or have taken an international cruise in the 14 days prior to having symptoms. Currently there is no public testing being offered at either of the hospitals. The tests follow the first positive case of the illness confirmed in Adair County Tuesday.
