Greene County and the City of Jefferson have been impacted by the recent developments of the novel coronavirus.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio emergency dispatchers will screen medical calls that are made and he asks for the public’s help.
“The dispatchers are asking everybody, if you do think you do have any of the symptoms (of coronavirus) don’t call 911, call your local ER (emergency room) or your doctor to get their advice. If you still need an ambulance by all means call, but we are going to be asking those questions on every medical call that we have so we ensure the safety of our EMS (emergency medical services) people.”
Williams adds, the law enforcement center in Jefferson is temporarily closed to the public at this time. The building will continue to be staffed and law enforcement will continue providing services. Staff will also continue to answer phone calls.
Other closures including the Greene County Courthouse will be closed starting tomorrow. Greene County Supervisor Chair John Muir says staff will continue to work in all county departments. The Jefferson City Hall, Jefferson Public Library and the Greene County Community Center are closed until further notice. This includes any programs or leagues at the library or the community center.
