With the recent public health disaster proclamation from Governor Kim Reynolds, several businesses in Greene County have been impacted.

Part of the proclamation is a mandate that all restaurants and bars, fitness centers, theaters, casinos, senior citizen centers and adult daycare facilities are closed from now through March 31st. Additionally, mass gatherings of more than ten people are prohibited at all locations and venues. Along with the new procedure, Greene County-area restaurants such as Doc’s Stadium, Bett and Bev’s Barbecue, Peony Chinese Restaurant, and Casa De Oro will only offer take-out options and Junkyard Cafe is additionally offering a delivery service for Jefferson, Scranton and Grand Junction. Additionally, the Sierra Community Theatre in Jefferson is closed, and Wild Rose Casino General Manager Travis Dvorak told Raccoon Valley Radio the entire facility is closed at this time. Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams said visitors are prohibited from the county jail at this time.

According to Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer, all city facilities are closed to the public at this time, including City Hall, the library and the Greene County Community Center. Palmer notes staff will continue to work in each facility and residents can still pay their water bills.

Banking institutions are also changing their operations. All Peoples Bank locations will only offer drive-up services, however staff will remain on site to help with other services. Home State Bank is closing its lobby starting tomorrow and will only offer drive-through services. However, they will continue to have staff on site to help with other services and their call center hours will be extended to 8am-5pm Monday-Friday and Saturday from 9am-noon. Wells Fargo Bank will continue to operate as normal.

These new mandates and protocols are designed to minimize the spread of the coronavirus through social distancing. Stay tuned to Raccoon Valley Radio for developing stories.
