The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District is prepared to approve their certified budget for the 2021 fiscal year, and the numbers will look similar to residents.

Superintendent Greg Dufoe says the District was once again able to maintain the same tax levy rate as they’ve had for the last several years, which has been a goal of the school board during that time. The published rate is $18.55 per $1,000 of taxable value, which Dufoe points out is on the lower end of the property tax levy rate for districts around the state. He adds, the level tax rate is a result of the state providing a 2.3% increase in supplemental aid, as well as some local-specific factors. “Some of the variables that allow us to continue to do that would be our enrollment growth, and of course we did see – as most areas have – a solid valuation increase. So we’re excited to be able to keep our tax rate stable for another year, especially with the addition of the new elementary building.”

Dufoe says the budget has been published for the public to view, and they will hold a public hearing to certify it at their April meeting. To learn more about this and other ADM topics, click the link below to listen to the recent Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program with Dufoe.
