The Greene County Republican Party held its county convention Saturday in the courtroom of the Greene County Courthouse.
District 47 State Representative Phil Thompson of Jefferson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the convention included hearing from the Republican candidates on the ballot, along with electing delegates to the district and state conventions. Additionally, they passed platform planks with affirming life, protecting the U.S. Constitution Second Amendment rights, protecting U.S. manufacturing and advocating for more efficient government that puts taxpayers first.
Iowa Republican Central Committee member and Jefferson resident John Thompson says about 27 people attended the convention and the delegates that were selected include himself, Roger Olhausen, Bob Hamilton, Fred Long and Sean Sebourn. The alternates are Phil Thompson and Rebecca Boyer. The Republican Party district convention is April 25th.
