novel-coronavirus

With the threat of 2019 novel coronavirus more prevalent than ever, hospitals and elder care facilities have begun to restrict public access, including in Perry.

Perry Lutheran Homes announced that in compliance with government healthcare agency directives regarding COVID-19, absolutely no visitors may enter the facilities at both the Spring Valley Campus and Willis Campus unless you are essential medical personnel. Visiting regarding end-of-life matters will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Chief Operating Officer and Administrator Melissa Gannon emphasized that the elder population is the most susceptible to COVID-19, so they are taking steps they feel are necessary to protect their residents. She added, the PLH staff is trained in infection control practices and they’re working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to employ strict preventative measures.

Dallas County Hospital has also instituted temporary visitor restrictions, with only primary caregivers and medical personnel and staff admitted to the facility. This also includes a prohibition on the public using their indoor walking track, and all upcoming education programs have been suspended. Additionally, the hospital asks that people call the clinic at 515-465-3553 before coming in with flu-like or coronavirus symptoms so medical professionals can take the proper course of action for preventing the spread of illness.
