A Lake City woman recently pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges for an incident that also resulted in felony drug charges for three males involved in Bayard.
Court documents show that 28-year-old Kelsey Kay Stringer pleaded guilty on two counts of child endangerment resulting in bodily injury, a class D felony, and she was also convicted for an aggravated misdemeanor child endangerment charge. Her judgment and sentence was deferred for the felony charges for her to be placed on two years probation. For the aggravated misdemeanor Stringer was given a suspended two year prison sentence for her to be placed on two years probation. She must pay over $2,600 for civil penalties, surcharges, Category II expenses, and a supervision fee. She must also abide by a no-contact order issued, though the Department of Human Services shall have the discretion to allow visitation between Stringer and protected parties. Two additional aggravated misdemeanor charges were dismissed with costs to be paid by Stringer.
This case stems from an August 1, 2019 incident in which Stringer’s three children were residing at a residence in the 100 block of North Street in Bayard when the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office arrested three males on methamphetamine, marijuana, and other drug-related charges. A deputy spoke with a DHS employee who stated that one of Stringer’s children had tested positive for controlled substances.
