Tomorrow is the first official day of soccer and golf practice for the Greene County Rams. Carl Behne returns as head coach of the boys’ program after the Rams qualified for the Class 1A State Tournament a season ago. About three-fourths of the starters from that team return, as well as some newcomers Coach Behne thinks could help right away.
One of the new players to high school soccer is senior Will Hansen. An All-District football player and District qualifier in wrestling, Hansen joins the soccer team in his final year of high school. Coach Behne talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about Hansen. “Will is a great athlete who wants to come out and play some soccer. Will reminds me a lot of (2019 graduate) an Austin Delp mentality. Not a ton of soccer exposure recently, but had a fair amount when he was younger. Will’s just an athlete and he has that competitive, go get it kind of nature that Austin did, so I’m excited to see what Will will do at practice and how that will carry over into game time, so I see Will as someone who could see a lot of playing time.”
Marilyn Tasler is the head girls’ soccer coach, with Josh Carlson coaching the girls’ golf team and Heath Telleen coaching the boys.
