As spring and summer approach and people start wanting to have outdoor activities with more frequency, the Adel Parks and Recreation Department is offering an easy way to secure locales.
Online reservations are now available for the shelters at three city parks as well as the Adel Stage and Pavilion. Parks and Rec operates the facilities at Evans Park, Kinnick-Feller Park, and Island Park, in addition to the pavilion, and they feel each spot is ideal for birthday parties, family reunions, weddings, or just an afternoon picnic. The facilities are available to the public from April 15th – October 15th, and the shelters are reserved in four-hour time frames with extra fees to stay longer.
The base fee for the pavilion, the shelters at Evans and Island parks, and the gazebo and south shelter at Kinnick-Feller are each $30 for residents and $40 for nonresidents, while the north shelter at Kinnick-Feller is $15 and $20, respectively. There is a $5 fee per hour past four to a maximum of 10 total hours, as well as an additional $50 fee for a sound permit if needed. Parks and Rec also reminds potential occupants that there is no charge for non-profit or civic organizations to use the shelters. Online reservations can be made through the City’s new registration portal, which also includes activity sign-up, and the link to the site can be found below.
