This spring the Raccoon River Valley Trail will be getting some needed maintenance, with a focus on the 10-mile stretch between Adel and Redfield.

Starting this Monday, contractors will be conducting overlay and bridge repair projects on that section of the trail, which will result in closures with no defined detours. Dallas County Conservation Outreach Coordinator Ken Keffer says they’ll do everything they can to keep the public up-to-date on where work is being done. “It’s going to be a temporary inconvenience for sure, but it definitely has to be done once in a while. So we’re asking for patience with folks on that, and we’ll try to keep them as informed as we can. The crews sort of have a window to work with on that, and they’ll be out there sort of working as they go, so I can’t tell you right now which exact bridge they’re going to be working on which day. So we’ll try to keep folks as informed as we can, (and) if they have questions they can call our office.”
