The Perry Public Library has dubbed March the “Month of Broccoli,” and they’re combining that with a popular basketball tournament for a special program.

Library Director Mary Murphy says they’re seeking submissions to the “Broccoli Brackets” throughout the month, which will culminate in a public taste test on Thursday, March 26th. “If you have a great broccoli recipe that you want to enter into the ‘Broccoli Brackets,’ you can go online and give it to me online; look under programs, adults, and there’s a form you can fill out that you can copy and paste from your broccoli recipe. Or you can just come in and give it to me! The staff will narrow it down to the top six, and we will prepare the six recipes. They will win the glory of having the best broccoli recipe!”

Murphy adds, the top three recipes will receive ribbons and certificates, and submissions are due by March 23rd. The Month of Broccoli is part of the library’s 2020 Health Initiative Grant programming, which is in partnership with Dallas County Public Health and Dallas County Hospital.
