The Guthrie Center City Council rescheduled the public hearing for the fiscal year 2021 budget Monday.

Due to a publishing error the hearing that was originally scheduled for Monday has been moved to March 23rd. The Council also approved ending their tax increment financing agreement with DICA so the manufacturing company can lawfully pursue a similar agreement with the City of Stuart. The Council also approved extending their lease agreement with DICA until the end of fiscal year 2021, after which the company expects to have their new headquarters in Stuart.

In other business, the Council approved listing their property at 806 North Street for sale. They were informed of lower workers compensation insurance rates this year by Becky Benton of State Street Insurance, and were updated on progress of selling the five lots through the Cameron Flats development agreement with the City Utility Board. Mayor Mike Herbert says three lots have been sold so far, and the Council plans to discuss offering more lots for sale with the Utility Board this week.
