As Scranton Manufacturing continues to recover from a major fire incident last month, all employees are expected to return to work this week.

Vice President of Sales and Marketing for New Way Trucks and McLaughlin Family Companies Don Ross says a fire happened in one of the paint booths overnight on February 23rd, where employees were painting parts for a garbage truck. He adds, they have plans in place for incidents like that and thankfully no one was hurt.

“We do have a business continuity plan, as well as emergency action plans, and we exercise those plans on a regular basis and continually train our employees to be ready for this. But you can’t anticipate everything that happens, and we did have to make some decisions on the fly. But thankfully the majority of the big decisions were part of the plan and we executed it.”

Since the incident, a crew of about 150 sub-contractors were on site cleaning up the areas that sustained fire and smoke damage. The vast majority of employees that were impacted returned to work last week, and all employees are expected to be back to work this week in various capacities. Scranton Manufacturing is part of the McLaughlin Family Companies that builds garbage trucks.
