The Perry School Board convened Monday evening in regular session.

The meeting began with a report on the preliminary certified budget for fiscal year 2021, which includes a total tax levy rate of $20.54 per $1,000 assessed value. The Board also got an update on the successful special election for the District’s revenue purpose statement, discussed the path to assessing the current challenges facing the high school football program and youth activities, were given superintendent evaluation forms, and briefly talked about the coronavirus. The action items started with approving the members of the School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC) for the current school year, which included 10 faculty and administrators. Next, the Board approved a resolution in support of the Complete Count for the upcoming 2020 Census.

They then approved publishing the proposed fiscal year 2020-21 budget, set a public hearing for April 13th to certify it, and approved a budget guarantee resolution, though it was pointed out that with the 2.3% increase in State Supplemental Aid it wasn’t a necessity. Other items approved included: an agreement with Atlantic Bottling Company for soft drinks for the next five years; revisions to Board policies; and personnel changes. The meeting concluded with an exempt session to conduct negotiations strategy.
