2019 Tower of Fame winner Charlie Porter, president of Medicap Pharmacies
Time is running out for nominations for this year’s Tower of Fame Award.
The award recognizes an individual, who at some point in their lives, has lived in Greene County and whose personal or professional accomplishments internationally, nationally or statewide bring great pride to the County. Chair of the selection committee Carole Custer adds that the 1981 planning committee of the Bell Tower Festival wanted to also have the award honorees be examples of what Greene County youth can accomplish and the impact they can have in their lifetime.
The first two recipients in 1981 were George Gallup, the creator of the Gallup Poll, and U.S. astronaut Loren Shriver of Paton. Since its inception, there have been 54 winners. The 2020 winner will be announced at this year’s Bell Tower Festival. New and previously submitted nominations will be considered. Deadline for nominations is Wednesday, March 4th to the Jefferson Area Chamber Office at the Thomas Jefferson Gardens Education and Welcome Center in Jefferson.
