Greene County finished the high school boys’ basketball season with a 5-17 record after losing 75-40 to Glenwood Monday night in Class 3A first round Substate 8 play. Glenwood improved to 17-5 and advances to play Harlan on Thursday night in Glenwood.

The game was close at 28-22 before the home team went on a run late in the half to lead 38-24 at intermission and the lead kept building in the second half. Glenwood had 25 points from Ryan Blum and 18 by John Palmer. The home team shot 45% for the game and they made nine three-point shots.

Greene County shot only 25% from the field including zero for 12 in the last quarter. Senior Carter Morton led the way with 16 points. Greene County also had 18 turnovers, but did make 12 of 16 free throw attempts.

The contest was the last one for seniors Morton, Nick Breon, Cael Fisher, and Caden Lowmiller.
