An individual died as a result of a single vehicle rollover wreck west of Adel last Sunday evening.
According to Dallas County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Adam Infante, at 5:53 p.m. dispatch received a call that a car was on fire near the intersection of Old Highway 6 and Panther Creek Road. Emergency crews were sent to the scene, where the vehicle was on fire. The preliminary investigation indicated the vehicle left the roadway at a high rate of speed and hit a tree. The sole passenger was trapped in the burning car and was found deceased when emergency crews were able to get access to them.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the accident and death, and the identity of the driver is still undetermined. Infante says they are still awaiting the autopsy and final identification confirmation, as well as notifying next-of-kin, which could take another few weeks. The Adel Police and Fire Departments, the Redfield Fire Department, and Dallas County Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
