The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday.

During open forum, Supervisor Vice Chair Dawn Rudolph reported on the Freedom Rock committee. She said one of the final projects will be to install each of the six military branch emblems near the rock, located on the Greene County Fairgrounds. Additionally, Greene County Ambulance Director Michelle Madsen talked about attending a rural Emergency Medical Services seminar and mentioned three bills related to improving EMS services are going through the Iowa House.

County Attorney Thomas Laehn asked the Supervisors if the maximum limit for their contract with Boone County Probation could be lifted, and pay the same amount as the current fiscal year. The Board agreed and will approve a new contract at a future meeting.

County Engineer Wade Weiss and Jefferson resident Larry Teeples spoke about the Highway 30 Coalition. The Coalition continues to work with the Department of Transportation about making Highway 30 four-lane across the state. The DOT has deemed the project a priority and will do additional studies. The Board agreed to pay their membership fee to be an active member on the Coalition and will give a letter of support toward the project.

The Board then approved the County Treasurer’s investment report of $9,000,680 for January and issuing 361 driver’s licenses last month. 

Finally, the Board heard a presentation from SCI Communications about security enhancements to the Greene County Courthouse. The Board will now consider approving the installation of keycard locks to three exterior doors and 13 interior cameras for an estimated cost of $31,000. The project could take about one month to complete.
