Greene County High School has two qualifiers for the 2020 Iowa State Wrestling Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The Rams will be represented in the first two weight classes in Class 2A with freshman McKinley Robbins at 106 lbs. and sophomore Brenner Gallagher at 113.

Robbins is 34-1 and ranked second and the number three seed while Gallagher is unseeded with a 33-13 record. This marks the first time in 55 years of high school wrestling based in Jefferson that a freshman and sophomore in the first two weight classes have made it to State. Robbins is also just the third freshman in the history of the program to qualify for State as a ninth grader.

The two Rams will be right off the bat at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. First round winners advance to the quarterfinals late Friday morning. Wrestlers losing in the opening round will have a consolation match again Thursday afternoon. Two losses on Thursday ends the tournament for an individual.

All three Raccoon Valley Radio stations will have “live” play-by-play of all the area wrestlers matches, and all will be streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com all three days.
