District 24 State Senator Jerry Behn will be retiring at the end of the year and it was recently announced that his son will be running for the seat. Chad Behn is a Boone native and graduated from Boone High School in 1996. After receiving an associate’s degree from Des Moines Area Community College, Chad then graduated from Presentation College in South Dakota in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in communication.

He also serves as a member of the Central Iowa Community Services Mental Health Board, the Emergency Management Association Board, the E-911 Board, and is a Farm Bureau member. He will be running in the June Repulican primary against Todd Rasmussen. Iowa Senate District 24 covers all of Greene and Boone counties, along with portions of Hamilton, Story and Webster counties.
