The 2020 Greene County Relay for Life main event has a new date and time.

Event Leadership Team Chair Tori Riley says the festivities will be held on Friday, April 24th from 5-9pm at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson. She says they wanted to change the main event from a Saturday to after the work day on Friday and make it shorter to get more and different people to join them in the fight against cancer.

Riley points out, last year they surpassed their fundraising goal of $40,000 for the American Cancer Society through silent auction, t-shirt and luminaria sales, the community barbecue and other donations. She adds, they are looking to continue these types of activities during this year’s event. Additionally, the event will include the survivor walk, team camps and walkers and entertainment during the community barbecue meal.

Fundraising teams are now forming as well. Last year, there were 15 teams that raised over $14,000. Anyone interested in forming a team can contact team chair Autumn Larson via email at alrelay1@gmail.com. Any group, business or individual wanting to be a sponsor can contact Riley at 515-370-3087.
