Last night the State of Iowa kicked off the 2020 election cycle with the nation’s first caucus, though we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out who came out on top on the Democratic side.

The Iowa Democratic Party says the results should be confirmed at some point today, with the delay caused by the new reporting system and having to manually verify the delegates. Party officials felt the caucus process went smoothly on the night, and they ask for people’s patience as they sort everything out from a busy affair. At least in Dallas County, the reported results so far include one delegate each for Joe Biden, Pete Buttegieg, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren in the Perry 1 precinct, and each except for Warren earned one in Perry 3. Perry 2 gave two delegates to Buttegieg, and one each to Biden and Warren, while Spring Valley-Dallas’s one delegate went to Biden. In Adel 1, it was Biden, Buttegieg, and Warren each earning a delegate, and Adel 2 saw each of those four earn one.

On the Republican side of the ticket, things were a lot less complicated. Of the three candidates on the secret ballots presented to caucusgoers, incumbent President Donald Trump took 97% of the vote statewide and earned all of the party’s delegates. The individual results in Dallas County mirrored the overall percentage.
