Gilbert completed the two-game regular season basketball sweep of the Greene County boys in Jefferson on Monday night in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference make up action. The final was 79-45 as the Tigers improved to 9-2 in the conference and 12-4 overall. Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams fell to 1-9 in the league and 3-13 on the season.

Gilbert led 46-25 at halftime, but the Rams scored the first six points of the half in just 53 seconds. Following a timeout by the Tigers, the visiting team went on an unanswered run of 18 points to put the game away and reserves finished it out for both teams.

Senior Matt Ockey had 17 points to lead the Tigers and senior Carter Morton led the Rams with a game-high 19, including three goals from three-point range. The Tigers made eight three’s to the Rams’ seven three-pointers. Gilbert went 17 of 24 from the foul line while Greene County was a meager three of four from the stripe.
